Dining & Extendable Tables
A dining table is where family life and entertaining converge. Rectangular, round, square and oval shapes to fit your room, or an extensible dining table that remains small day to day and extends out when visitors arrive - great if your usual and occasional seating demands change.
Coffee Tables & Nest of Tables
In the living area a coffee table provides a space for beverages, literature and the remote. A nest of tables is ideal for tiny areas and entertaining – it can be tucked away for flexible use and pulled apart when you need more surfaces.
Lamp & Console Tables
A console table is a narrow, attractive surface for a corridor, entryway or behind a sofa, perfect for a light, a vase or keys near the door. Neat lamp tables and side tables sit beside a sofa or bed, providing a light, drink or book close at hand.

Size & Seating
A decent rule of thumb for a dining table is to provide roughly 60cm of table edge per person, so a 180cm rectangle table easily seats six. Clearance is just as important: leave about 90cm between the edge of the table and the wall or furniture behind, so chairs can be pushed back and people can walk behind. First measure the room — and record the table’s footprint on the floor — prevents a costly mistake
Shape & Material
Rectangular tables take up the least area and are good for larger rooms, while round and oval tables are more convivial and allow better flow in small spaces. Your materials should be warm and durable such as solid wood and oak, you want to maintain a room looking airy and open so glass is great and marble provides a sense of luxury. Pick a finish that fits your style and how much the table will work hard day to day.

Table Buying FAQs
What size dining table do I need?
Allow about 24in (60cm) of table edge per person as a guide. A 5ft (150cm) table will sit four comfortably, a 6ft (180cm) table will sit six and you’ll want around 7 to 8ft (210 to 240cm) for eight. At Christmas a six-seater will generally stretch to eight with all sitting a little closer (a rectangle table can normally handle an extra person at each end for special events).
How much space do I need around a dining table?
Allow at least 3ft (90cm) of unobstructed space on all sides between the edge of the table and the next wall or furniture people use. This permits chairs to be pulled out fully, and allows someone to go behind a seated guest. If the dining space is also used as a key thoroughfare through your home, go closer to 3ft 6in to 4ft (100 to 120cm). The easiest check is to tape down the footprint of the table on the floor before you buy.
What height should a coffee table be?
Most coffee tables are 16 to 20in (40 to 51cm) tall. The optimal height is roughly even with, or an inch or two beneath, your sofa seat cushions, so you can easily grab drinks and books without bending over. In terms of proportion, you want a coffee table to be about two-thirds the length of your sofa, and allow enough space around to stroll comfortably.
What is a console table used for?
A console table is a narrow and tall table that is designed to sit against a wall – in a corridor or doorway, or behind a sofa. Ideal for a lamp, a vase, keys and mail by the door or a thoughtful display behind a mirror or artwork. Console tables are often around 28 to 32in (71 to 81cm) high, a good length is roughly half to two-thirds the width of the wall or sofa it sits against. In narrow halls, use a shallow depth so it does not get in the way of the walkway.
What is a nest of tables?
A nest of tables is a set of two or three tables of varying size that slip neatly under each other. They fold away to take up minimal space, then pull apart to give you extra surfaces when you need them – excellent for tiny rooms and parties. The measurements mentioned are normally for the largest table, so if you want to use the smaller sizes on their own, for example next to an armchair or bed, it’s worth verifying what those are too.
Are extendable dining tables worth it?
If you have different seating demands day to day than when you have guests, these are a perfect alternative. An expandable table is a convenient size for daily use and expands with an additional leaf when visitors arrive so you don't have an overly large table taking up room all year round. The extension mechanisms add a little weight and can effect leg space under the table a little, therefore worth comparing the specifications on the closed and extended sizes.

We have a range of our tables on display in our Enniskillen showroom so you are very welcome to come in, view the finishes in actual light and get a feel for the sizes in person. Not all models are on display but our variety is bigger than the showroom floor and our team can guide you through the alternatives and help you find the ideal table for your house – whether you are buying in store or online.
