Sideboards — Small, Large & Oak Sideboards
Read moreA sideboard is storage you're happy to look at. It hides the plates, glasses, board games and paperwork that would otherwise end up on every surface, and the top gives you somewhere for a lamp, a mirror or serving dishes. It works in the dining room, the living room and the hallway.
Below you'll find how to choose the size, what height to go for, and which storage suits which room. See also display cabinets, TV units and our storage furniture.
Dining room sideboards
In a dining room a sideboard holds the tableware and serves as a buffet surface when you have people over. Leave at least 90cm between it and the dining chairs so people can sit and get past. See more dining room furniture.
Living room sideboards
In a living room a sideboard swallows remote controls, chargers, games and paperwork. A lower sideboard can also take a television, though a dedicated TV unit gives better cable management. See more living room furniture.
Small sideboards and slim sideboards
A small sideboard fits a hallway, an alcove or a smaller dining room, and gives you a surface for keys and post. Check the depth: a slimmer sideboard keeps the walkway clear, which matters more in a hallway than the width.
Large sideboards
A large sideboard with three or four doors suits a long wall in a dining room or an open-plan space, and holds a full dinner service. As a guide, choose one that takes up around two thirds of the wall, leaving space either side so it doesn't look crammed in.
Doors, drawers and shelves
Doors hide bulky things; drawers are better for cutlery, napkins and small items you want to find quickly. A sideboard with drawers above cupboards gives you both. Check whether the shelves inside are adjustable if you want to store tall bottles or vases.
Oak and wooden sideboards
An oak or wooden sideboard suits traditional and Scandinavian rooms and wears well. Teak and darker timbers bring a mid-century feel; grey, taupe and painted finishes are softer and suit a modern scheme.
Delivery and assembly
Furniture is delivered in 2 to 3 weeks unless the product page says otherwise. Our own team delivers across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and carries each piece into the room you choose, rather than leaving it at the door. Assembly is optional and can be added when you order; the cost is shown on each product.
Part of the range is on show at our Enniskillen showroom. The online range is wider, so ring before you travel if there's a particular piece you want to see.
