Mirrors — Wall Mirrors, Full Length & Round Mirrors
Read moreA mirror is the cheapest way to make a room feel bigger and brighter. It doubles the light from a window, opens up a narrow hallway and gives a wall a focal point. The skill is choosing the right size and putting it in the right place.
Shop by type: wall mirrors, floor standing mirrors and vanity mirrors.
Wall mirrors
A wall mirror is the most versatile kind. Over a fireplace or a sideboard it acts like a piece of art; in a hallway it lets you check yourself on the way out and makes the space feel wider.
What size mirror for the wall?
Above a piece of furniture, aim for a mirror about two thirds the width of the piece below. Too small and it looks lost; wider than the furniture and it looks top-heavy. Hang it so the centre sits around eye level, roughly 150–160cm from the floor, unless it's resting on a mantelpiece.
Large mirrors and full length mirrors
A large mirror or a full length mirror lets you see a whole outfit and has the biggest effect on light. Leaner mirrors stand on the floor and rest against the wall; cheval mirrors sit in a frame that tilts. Both are easy to move and need no drilling. See our standing mirrors.
Round mirrors, arched mirrors and gold mirrors
A round mirror softens a room full of straight lines and works well over a console or in a bathroom. An arched mirror adds height. A gold mirror frame brings warmth; black and metal frames suit a modern or industrial room; white and wood frames feel lighter.
LED and vanity mirrors
LED mirrors have lighting built in, which gives even light on your face for make-up and grooming. They suit a dressing table or a bedroom corner. See our vanity mirrors and dressing tables.
Where to hang a mirror
Opposite or beside a window, a mirror bounces daylight deeper into the room. Think about what it will reflect: a view, a light fitting or a piece of art is better than a blank wall or the television.
