The 3 seater is the standard family sofa. It seats three people upright, two people lying back, and one person stretched out on a Sunday afternoon. For most living rooms it's the main sofa, with a 2 seater or an armchair opposite.

3 seater sofa size

Most 3 seater sofas measure roughly 190–230cm wide. To check it fits, measure the wall and take about 20cm off each end; in a typical living room that lands on a sofa of around 200–210cm. Recliners need extra space behind and in front for the mechanism.

Measure the way in, not just the room

Check the width of the front door, hallway, stairs and living room door against the sofa's height and depth. Most sofas go through a door on their side or end, so the depth usually matters more than the width.

3 seater recliner sofas

A 3 seater recliner gives two or three reclining seats in one sofa. Electric recliners move at the touch of a button, and some add USB ports, power headrests or a console with cup holders between seats. Manual recliners use a lever or a push-back action. See all recliner sofas.

Seat depth and comfort

Seat depth decides how you sit. A shallower seat keeps you upright with your feet on the floor, which suits watching TV and getting up easily. A deeper seat lets you curl up, but shorter people may need a cushion behind them. If you can, try before you buy.

Sofas are delivered in 2 to 3 weeks unless the product page says otherwise. Our own team delivers across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, carries the sofa into the room you choose, and assembles it and takes the packaging away free of charge. The only exception is sofa beds, where assembly is optional at the cost shown on the product.

Part of the range is on show at our Enniskillen showroom, and sitting on a sofa is the best way to judge seat depth and firmness. The online range is wider, so ring before you travel if there's a particular model you'd like to try.
