A super king mattress is the largest standard size in the UK and Ireland. It suits couples who want plenty of space, light sleepers who are disturbed by a partner turning over, and families whose children end up in the bed at night.

Super king mattress size
A super king mattress is 6ft, or 180 x 200cm: 30cm wider than a king size and the same length. Measure inside your bed frame, and check that the room leaves at least 60cm at each side of the bed.

Pocket sprung super king mattress
Many super king mattresses here are pocket sprung, including the Briody VIP range and several Serenity Sleep mattresses, which are described as made in Ireland. The Serenity Sleep G05 Paradise pairs pocket springs with foam.
Reversible super king mattress
The Serenity Sleep G07 is reversible, so it can be turned over as well as rotated. A mattress this size is heavy, so turning it is a two-person job.
Firm super king mattress or soft?
Side sleepers often prefer softer or medium; back and front sleepers often prefer medium to firm. Pocket springs give each side its own support when two people of different weights share the bed.
Looking after a super king mattress
Rotate the mattress head to foot every few months so it wears evenly, and use a mattress protector to keep it clean. A double-sided mattress can also be turned over; a one-sided or pillow top mattress should only be rotated. A new mattress can smell of its fillings for a few days, so let it air with the bedding off.
