Parasols and Pergolas: Cantilever and Rectangular Parasols

Shade makes a garden usable for longer, whether you want to sit out in the midday sun or eat outside on a bright afternoon. This collection includes the Vazzano parasols in 2.7m, 2x3m rectangular and 3m cantilever sizes, in cream and grey, together with parasol bases and a cantilever parasol cover, and the Messina Louvred Pergola in black with a large swivel louvre screen.

Find furniture to shade in garden dining sets and garden lounge sets.

Choosing a parasol

Centre pole or cantilever

A standard parasol has a central pole that either passes through the parasol hole in a dining table or stands in its own base. A cantilever parasol, such as the Vazzano 3m Cantilever Parasol, has its pole to one side, so the canopy hangs over the seating without a pole in the way, which suits lounge sets and corner sofas.

Size

As a rough guide, the canopy should reach around 50cm beyond the edge of the table or seating area on each side. A rectangular parasol, like the Vazzano 2x3m, suits longer tables, while a 2.7m canopy is a common choice for round and square tables.

Bases and covers

A free-standing parasol needs a stable base, so check which one suits your parasol: there is a Vazzano Parasol Base and a separate Vazzano Cantilever Parasol Base, both in black. A cover protects the canopy when it is closed, and the Vazzano Cantilever Parasol Cover is in cream.

Pergolas

A pergola creates a more permanent covered area over a patio or seating space. The Messina Louvred Pergola in black has louvres, slats set at an angle to let light and air through, and the Messina Pergola Swivel Louvre Screen in a large size adds a screen at the side. Measure the area carefully and make sure the ground is firm and level before ordering.
