Bedspreads: Quilted Cotton, Velvet and Gauze Designs

A bedspread is the finishing layer on a made bed. It adds colour and texture, gives an extra layer of warmth on cold nights and protects the duvet cover underneath. Our collection includes quilted cotton, cotton velvet, opulent velvet and gauze bedspreads, along with crinkle stripe and stitched designs.

Choosing a bedspread

Texture

Velvet bedspreads, such as the Opulent Velvet and Cotton Velvet Quilted designs, have a soft sheen and a richer look. Quilted cotton bedspreads, including the Serene Quilted and Quilted Cotton designs, have a stitched pattern that adds texture without the shine. The Alcove Gauze Bedspread has a lighter, more relaxed feel, and the Crinkle Stripe Bedspread adds texture in beige.

Colour

Neutrals such as oatmeal, beige, sand, taupe, grey and charcoal sit easily with white or taupe bed linen. For something with more character, look at sage, duck egg, blush, olive, rust or green, and pick out the same colour in cushions or a throw elsewhere in the room.

Getting the size right

Measure the width and length of your bed with the duvet on, then decide how far you want the bedspread to hang over the sides. Laid across the whole bed, a bedspread should cover the edges of the mattress; folded across the bottom third, it can be smaller. Check the dimensions on each product page before ordering.

Care

Follow the care label on each bedspread. Larger quilted and velvet pieces need plenty of room, so give them space to dry fully before putting them back on the bed.
